The City of Pasadena, CA Takes Huge Steps in Cannabis Licensing.

On Tuesday WeCann attended a workshop in Pasadena led by city officials who are in charge of cannabis applications. We learned that the city is taking huge leaps by announcing the following:

• There will be up to 6 retail, 4 cultivation, and 4 testing laboratory licenses available.
• The application will be available beginning 12/14
• Step 1 will be the Application Screening Window. This Screening phase will be open Jan. 1- Jan 31. All applications must be submitted by Jan. 31 at 11:59 pm. At this phase, applicants DO NOT need a property.
• From this process, the city will choose the top applicants that get to move on.

Before this, it was not clear that the first phase would be screening and would not require a property.  Many other cities take the application with the property as part of it, rather than taking an application based on just the applicant themselves and then arranging the exact location further down the line.  Especially in Pasadena, this is big because they have a very limited area that falls within their location requirements.
